Painted at Champoeg, Oregon This painting of Adolph Jette was done from a photograph of Mr. Jette in his coffin on the day of his funeral.  Gegoux was gifted at visualizing what the subject would have been like alive and many years younger.  This portrait is but one example of Gegoux's talent at post humous portraiture.
