He died on March 18, 1900. The Watertown Daily Times - March 19, 1900 - Monday E. M. Bingham Edwin M. Bingham, who for about a half century has been a well-known and esteemed resident of Watertown, died about 4 yesterday afternoon at his home, 42 State street. Mr. Bingham, who was in his 66th year, was born at Evans Mills, but came to this city in his early youth and has ever since resided here, except for a short time in the early sixties, when he served as a first lieutenant in Co. E of the 35th New York volunteers. He had been in business in this city about 20 years. There were few men in Watertown who were more highly regarded by those who knew them best. He was genial, warm hearted, generous and honest, and a man whose friendship was held at the highest valuation. He was an earnest believer in and supporter of the principles of Free Masonry, and was a member of Watertown lodge and chapter, Watertown Commandery, No. 11, K. T., and Media Temple. A. A. O. N. M. S. His wife, Mrs. Harriet Bingham, died Feb. 7, and Mr. Bingham, who had long been in poor health, survived her but little more than a month. He is survived by three children, Misses Clara and Julia Bingham and Edwin M. Bingham, jr., all of this city, and by two brothers, George C. and Albert Bingham, and two sisters, Miss Sarah A. Bingham, of this city, and Mrs. M. J. Tripp, of New York. A Masonic funeral will be held from the late residence of the deceased tomorrow at 3:30 p. m.
